Best Crankbait Rods

If you are a fishing enthusiast and like to pursue crankbait fishing, then you will need crankbait rods. To perform to their best potential, crankbaits require a different rod action. The crankbait rods bend quite a lot especially at the tips to provide the maximum action. Other rods used for other baits do not bend as much as the crankbait rods.

The crankbaits perform the best when they have a slow to moderate action tip rather than extra fast action tip common to other bass lures. Next is the power of the crankbait rod which is medium heavy and combined with the parabolic bend, it gets the ideal bend that is essential for crankbait fishing.

The crankbait rods require the bend to have the appropriate flexibility to wobble side to side. The softer action and power let the bass grab the crankbait without feeling the resistance or tension right away. The vacuum created by the bass when it opens its mouth to engulf the lure is done away with by a good crankbait rod.

We have done the research for you and have compiled a list of the best crankbait rods. These rods have been evaluated on the basis of their action, power and price. You can peruse through the list to find the best rods for your fishing session.

Lew's Fishing David Fritts Perfect Crackbait Speed Stick Series Rod, 7'/Medium/Moderate Taper

First time buying a rod specifically crafted for crankbaits. After fishing with this I am wondering why it took me so long. This rod is mixed with fiberglass, yet still light and sensitive; it has just the right amount of flex without being stiff. Way to go Lew’s you got this right!

Quantum Fishing Kevin Vandam KVD Cranking Rod (7-Feet 4-Inch/Medium Heavy)

I have more rods and reels than I know what to do with, but hey, that’s part of the sport! I was looking for a long cranking rod for fishing the deeper diving baits that wasn’t too pricey. I prefer to spend a little more on high performance reels, vs. breaking the bank for a high-end rod. You can get a lot of rod for $150 or less.Fast forward to the performance of this rod and I couldn’t be happier. I paired it up with a new style Shimano Curado 200PG reel due to it’s lower gear ratio for cranking. I’m very impressed with the performance of this setup. The casting distance is unbelievable and the rod seems to be plenty sensitive when using fluorocarbon line. For the price here on Amazon, it would be tough to beat.

Dobyns Rods Fury Series FR 705CB Medium/Heavy Power Mod-Fast Action Crankbait Rod, 7'0

Such a nice rod for the money. Easily world’s better than my duckett ghost 7 ft medium cranking rod, and I thought they were great. The cork is nice. Weight and balance are well above the price point. I love the nice soft castable tip that transitions nicely into firm backbone. The moderate fast action keeps them buttoned up. Very nice. They just added the 806 swimbait rod to the lineup and if I didn’t already have it in the champion series I’d easily buy that as well. The punching rod, swimbait rods, 705cb and the 735c are the best of this line.

Okuma Scott Martin Tournament Concept Rods TCS-C-701M+

very light for a 7’6″ rod, haven’t had the chance to fish it yet but preliminary casting in my yard and it feels nice, i thought it would have a little more backbone being a H rated rod but i’m still very pleased (maybe i’m unfairly comparing a bass rod to an inshore or musky rod). i set the drag by deadlifting a known amount of weight (in this case 4.5lbs) and the rod has alot of flex.i own a fair bit of okuma products (5 of their better spinners, 3 lever drags and 7 of their rods) and i can’t say anything negative about any of it

Wright and McGill Skeet Reese S-Glass Crank Bait Rod

Reviews are not my thing, but when something comes along I really enjoy I will share my thought. This rod is fantastic, it’s light weight, easy to cast, and just feels good in your hand. It’s got a flexable tip which at first I thought to be a little soft, but once you run some line through it, it’s the best feature of the rod. You can cast it effortlessly. I recieved it on a Friday and went out the very next day. After an all day trip of using four different rods of different makes and prices, it has become my favorite rod. I look at my expensive rods and wonder why do they cost so much compared to this one. I diffently see me buying more.
